Format Scanning
Medium format negatives typically include film sizes up to approximately 4″ x 5″, while large format negatives are 4″ x 5″ and larger. These formats are commonly used in professional photography, fine art, landscape photography and archival collections.
Photo Digital Services can digitise a wide range of medium and large format negatives in both colour and black-and-white. Depending on the original film and your requirements, files can be supplied in JPEG or TIFF format.
Each scan is carefully processed with cropping, orientation correction, colour optimisation and sharpening where appropriate, helping preserve valuable images and make them easier to store, reproduce and share.
What Scanning Resolution is Right for me?
2400DPI
Standard Resolution
2400 DPI is ideal for general archiving, sharing, standard-size prints and everyday digital use.
3600DPI
High Resolution
3600 DPI is ideal for larger prints, cropping and detailed editing while preserving more image detail from the original negative.
4800DPI
Ultra-High Resolution
4800 DPI is best for maximum detail, advanced restoration, heavy cropping and larger high-quality reproductions.

Medium format negatives is film that is considered any size up to 4″ x 5″ in colour or black and white. Large format negatives are 4″ x 5″ and larger.

We scan slide film from 35mm to 127 Super at high resolution for quality results. Using Epson V700 and V800 scanners, we gently remove loose dust before scanning.
Medium & Large Format Scanning Requirements
1. Film must be in good condition with no mould, rips and or tears. If film is sent curled or damaged then we may not be able to scan the film.
2. No Blu Tac, sticky tape or staples are to be attached to the film.
3. iSRD cannot be used on Black and White Negatives.
4. Large Format is considered to be larger than 60 x 90mm.
5. Minimum scanning charge of $80.00. Set-up Fee per Job of $19.95.
